Upcycle travel coffee mug

I`ve just been looking at too many decoupage blogs by http://ontheupcycle.com/category/decoupage/ and http://maggiemaysgifts.wordpress.com/2013/11/17/personalized-storage-jars/ so I got brainwashed into deciding to do the same. I prefer paint, but, life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.

We keep the straws for the kids on the little kitchen island in a promotional travel coffee mug we got from The Brick when we bought furniture there (don`t do that, we learned our lesson and it didn`t cost us nearly as much as other people).

Since I’m just beginning my foray into this new method of decorating, I didn’t bother spending lots of money on Mod Podge but instead used a homemade recipe of 2:1 of white Elmer’s glue to water.

What I learned is that if you’re going to cover a cup whose diameter is steadily increasing and you want to do this without using piRsquared, then cut your paper strips no more that 0.5 inches wide and be prepared to smooth out the overlap by folding it over at the back, sort of making a seam.
