Knit doll vest free pattern for 12 inch doll

I got the original pattern from Martha Stewart, via Pinterest and it can be found here: http://www.marthastewart.com/951165/knitted-vest. It looked doll size in the picture but when I went to download the pattern I found out that it’s actually for children so I adapted the pattern to doll size.

Here’s my adapted pattern.

For the second front piece, repeat all steps, with armhole and neckline on the alternate sides. For the first piece, decrease for armhole at beginning of row and decrease for neckline at end of row. For second piece, decrease for armhole and end of row and decrease for neckline at beginning of row.

Back:
Cast on 30 stitches.
Work in seed stitch for 3.25 inches.
Begin shaping armhole on both sides of knit piece: Decrease 1 stitch each at beginning and end of row; continue in seed stitch in between.

Seed stitch 3 rows.
Decrease 1 stitch each at beginning and end of row; continue in seed stitch in between.
Seed stitch 12 rows.
Bind off.

Pockets:
Cast on 6 stitches.
Work in seed stitch for 1.25 inches.
Cast off. Sew to vest front.

Sew vest together and sc around all edges.

PS- This vest is kind of long for this doll so if you wanted it shorter, instead of knitting every piece to 3.25 inches before making the armholes, only knit 2.25 inches. Or make it longer if you want a coat.

PPS- Because I dislike the seed stitch so much, I actually just garter stitched the back piece and seed stitched the 2 front vest pieces. And I didn’t add pockets. Or a sc border.
