Despite the small, 1 foot square, size of my knitting basket, I am ALWAYS wasting time rummaging through it trying to find my sewing needle, scissors, or crochet hook. Somehow, no matter that I always drop them in the same corner, they migrate and shuffle. So I crocheted a little green basket for them and ch-crocheted it to the inside side of the knitting basket.
So there. Now they won’t escape.
I used the crochet soap holder vertical pattern, doing 3 of the dc rows but finishing the last one with a hdc row, not sc. You can’t really see the weave of the little basket so picture this, but in green.
Little Hanging Crochet Basket Pattern

Row 2: Sc in each sc across; ch1, turn. (10 sc)
Rows 3 – 6: Repeat row 2.
Working in rounds from now on…
Round 1: Sc in each sc and in the sides of sc all around piece; join with a sl st to first sc. (16 sc) Do not turn.
Round 2: Ch 4, *skip next st, dc in next st, ch 1*. Repeat from * to * all the way around; join with a sl st to the 3rd chain of beginning ch 4. (14 dc and 14 ch-1 spaces) Do not turn.

Rounds 4-5: Repeat Round 2 and 3
Round 6: Repeat Round 2
Round 7: work 2 hdc in each ch-1 space around. Join with a sl st to first hdc. Continue by making a chain to fit around the handle of the basket, attach to basket with sl st, sc in hdc until placement of second handle. Chain around the handle, finish.
