Crochet doll bassinet free pattern

It all started with a caterpillar. The enormous, long one designed to be a draft door draft stopper for a nursery. I believe this caterpillar belonged to my sister. Anywhoo, my son claimed it for himself so to restore balance to the universe I knit a caterpillar for my daughter. A small one, calculated slightly larger than the original Jean Greenhowe pattern I used (copyrighted, can’t share).

I knit a leaf for the chenille (french for “caterpillar”) to eat. I knit a blanket to keep her warm. Then my daughter, her eyes all a-twinkle says “now you make a bed for Mme Chenille?” Gratitude, oy.

The internet disappoints once again, there are no free patterns for doll beds. So I devised my own. It was difficult but I’m a fighter and a need to be conquering something so I relished the challenge.

Here’s what I came up with.

Crochet Doll Bed

The Blanket
Cast on 20 sts in whatever colour you like. Beg with K row, st st 14 rows. Change to 2nd colour and st st 14 rows. Cast off.

Make a second piece the same way but start with the 2nd colour. Sew the two pieces together. I put a hdc border around the blanket in that absurd fuzzy purple yarn I’m trying to get rid of.
